A Sustainable Journey Since 1950

More than 75 years ago, Club Med’s founder Gérard Blitz imagined a place where people could reconnect: with nature, others, and themselves. He believed this harmony was the key to happiness, and it became the heart of the Club Med spirit. Today, we’re building on that legacy through a long-term commitment to more sustainable tourism. A journey guided by our CSR roadmap named Happy to Care and shaped by three pillars, ready to be explored in this page.

1. Building and Operating Greener Resorts

We are committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our resorts through concrete tools, actions, and commitments. Our primary goal is to reduce our carbon footprint by enhancing the energy efficiency of all newly built or renovated resorts, and on improving water and waste management, in line with the highest hospitality certification standards.

2. Offering more conscious stays to our guests

Since the very beginning, we've believed in the power of reconnecting with preserved nature. To offer guests a more environmentally responsible – and meaningful – stay, we focus on three key actions: designing outdoor experiences that foster a deeper connection with nature, serving meals made with locally sourced ingredients, and creating a safe haven for the fauna and flora across our resorts.

3. Delivering social positive impact

Creating a positive impact starts with listening and working hand in hand. We nurture strong ties with local communities, non-profits, and our own teams to better understand their needs. Through the work of the Club Med Foundation and programs supporting local economies, we engage where it matters most. And because positive impact begins from within, we promote multicultural inclusion and equal opportunities, reflecting the very spirit of Club Med.

Reducing our carbon emissions is a long-term goal, and we’re making it measurable. We’re aiming to cut our emissions by 50% by 2030, and by at least 80% by 2050. To get there, we’re rethinking the way we build, renovate and operate our resorts, with smarter energy use and more responsible design from the start. Discover more about our key commitments here.

Making Efforts to Preserve Biodiversity

As part of our commitment to sustainable tourism, we’re enhancing resort dining with more locally sourced ingredients. By 2030, 65% of our fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, eggs and dairy will come from the countries where our resorts are located – bringing seasonal produce and authentic local flavors straight to your plate. Making Efforts to Preserve Biodiversity

Delivering Social Positive Impact

As part of our social impact actions, we support small farmers near our resorts by sourcing a share of our fresh products directly from them. This initiative, led in partnership with AGRISUD since 2008, helps producers shift towards more sustainable practices while strengthening local economies. It’s a way to nourish both communities, and your appetite for locale flavors.
