Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

This was a really peaceful getaway for our family. We tend to always look for new places to visit on our vacations, but after trying Club Med Miches, the consensus was we will have to return!

The resort is nestled in the turquoise waters of DR's Semana Bay. The tropical village-like atmosphere is both luxuriously appointed and naturally healing at the same time. Our room contained parent's quarters and a crash pad for our three children, providing separable spaces for the perfect blend of family time and relaxation. Everything from landscaping to facilities to guest rooms were kept meticulously clean, there was no end to tasty food and beverage options, and I valued the high-speed WiFi for keeping in touch without eating up costly international minutes on my cell phone.

After a long day traveling from New York to Miches, the Reception staff led by Enock gave us a proper welcome to paradise and were always helpful and highly courteous. Throughout our stay, Jose and Charles at the resort's Cayuco and Coco Plum bars were memorably warm and friendly, each complementing the food and beverage team quite nicely. And, for an exciting excursion, we did multiple ATV tours with our kids where Eddie and Manuel were excellent guides and hosts. Combined with nightly activities for kids and adults alike, we were never bored yet somehow always rested.

Could not have dreamed a better trip!

My wife and I and our two kids just got back from Miches and we had a great time. The facilities and staff were great. A big shout out to Nico and the team at the watersports area who helped me and my wife learn to Wing Foil. Another shout out to Juan / Carlos (sorry if the name is wrong), for organizing the fun Pickle Ball tournaments - where we met some really nice people from different countries. The staff at the bars and restaurants were very friendly and our room was very clean and well appointed. The GOs at Archery were also very friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great week! This was our 3rd Club Med we’ve visited and for the most part, this resort surpassed our expectations!

The garden view room was HUGE. I didn’t expect to have such a spacious room that was beautifully decorated for one of the cheaper prices, room wise! The espresso and mini fridge items for the room—delicious!

Room service was a little wonky—we never knew if they were coming at 10am or 4pm. And sometimes there would be missing replacements for the espresso, water, tea, etc. Overall though, it was decent service.

As for the experiences, WONDERFUL overall! The GO’s (employees for those who don’t know the term “G.O.”) were amazing. I want to give shoutouts to specific individuals.

From the bar—Charles was our favorite person ever. He’s from Brazil and has such a beautiful personality. He’s so warm and kind. He always made my husband and I feel very seen and appreciated while we were there. He spoke multiple languages beautifully and always had a smile on his face with genuine love for his job and the guests he would interact with.

From the Circus Team—
Candela amazed me. She’s so friendly and is a BRILLIANT beast of a woman catcher! Everytime I practiced trapeze and went to catch a new trick, she would catch me even if I didn’t do my job perfectly. I’ve flown loads of times for years and SHE is the best catcher I’ve ever flown with. I’m a fan of hers for life.
Tammy is the circus chief! She has such a beautiful personality and brings such great enthusiasm to the circus team. She talks happily with guests and made everyone feel excited to come back and try trapeze again! I love her!
Kenzy is SUCH a great performer. She also helped me LOADS with advice that will enhance my form on the trapeze. Watching her performance in the shows, she always stood out. She clearly takes practicing and perfecting her craft seriously!
Nacho is really cool. He’s very professional and welcoming at the same time. The times I flew, he was working the lines below the trapeze. He knew how to do that really well and gave clear and wonderful instructions to the flyers. He helped me a lot with directions and speaks multiple languages beautifully so each guest flying could hear his directions clearly so they feel safe. I think he works really hard at keeping everyone safe while flying. This is so important and I’m grateful!
Joel was so fun to talk to! A lot of times, because I speak Spanish (but not well) when I try to speak Spanish with others they switch to English for me. But he spoke to me in Spanish when I wanted to practice a bit and was so clear speaking back to me so I could understand better! He’s so sweet and also made me feel safe while I was flying and he was on the board with me before a catch. He’s instantly likable with such a warm and welcoming personality!

Archery— Jonhy (I’m so sorry if I misspelled his name) is awesome! He was great with helping my husband and I learn how to quickly improve our archery skills even though this was our first time. His dedication to making sure everyone is safe while practicing this dangerous sport was clear! He’s so kind and laughed with us through learning and honestly because of him, we want to continue archery! He made it so much fun.

Reception—Cosimo is such a great person. You know his top priorities are exceeding guest service expectations, making connections, and making guests feel seen and comfortable! We don’t usually like to invite others to eat lunch or dinner with us at Club Med—this is a strange concept to us, but with Cosimo, we welcomed him with open arms. I hope he ends up being the Chief of Village someday. This is someone that Club Med wants to keep around—that’s for sure. I should’ve told him this while we were there, so I hope he reads this!

Wind Foil—two people we absolutely LOVE was Leo and Kian. They are SUCH beautiful people. They are so friendly and helpful. Even though I didn’t love Wind Foil (I prefer sailing), I came back more than once for Leo and Kian. I noticed how important guest comfortability is to both of them. They even did something really special for another set of guests that were there on their honeymoon. I thought that was such an extra touch of amazing service.

Chef from the buffet— Koji-San is the Japanese chef from the restaurant! We always made sure to go directly to his section because his food was always so delicious! Not only is his food delicious, but we loved him as a person too. His guest service skills are top notch! He always made us feel welcome and excited to come eat!

Horseback Riding— our guide (I hate that I forgot his name) was amazing. We finally got to ride horses ON THE BEACH and in the water! The ride was around an hour-an hour and a half. The views were amazing. This is an extra cost, but totally worth it!

Onto the scenery—we loved taking long walks on the beach or through the village. So if you go here, make sure you walk on the beach to the left because it’s all private beach and ocean scenery for everyone to enjoy. The water is clear and beautiful. Because this resort is located more on the countryside of the DR, the views are to DIE for! Mountains and ocean views! What more could you ask for?

Thank you, Club Med, for every single one of our stays so far—but this resort has to be the most beautiful one I’ve seen!

Club Med Miches was such an amazing vacation. The rooms were clean and spacious and the gym spaces they had were very nice. They had an equipment room, a studio type room for yoga, a cycle room, and an outdoor yoga space all of which was clean and excellent for working out. The yoga classes they had were also very unique, ranging from Aerial yoga to sound healing. Uriel was a great yoga instructor and he was very fun to talk to and eat dinner with. The food was also delicious and their night parties were fun every day.

Our family visited Club Med Miches in June 2026. It was our 2nd visit to this particular Club Med and it was an outstanding experience like our first visit here in 2023. Here are the things we like best about the resort:

The resort itself is beautiful and extremely well maintained. The groundskeeping, accommodations, and common areas are pristine. And the beach is absolutely amazing.

The staff members (called G.O.s) are kind, accommodating, and professional. Some examples include:

The main restaurant (Cayuco) manager, Aakshay went above and beyond to accommodate our group of 7. I was on a knee scooter because of a recent surgery, and one in our group was gluten free. He personally offered to (and did) carry my food many times during our trip because it was difficult for me. He also pointed out the gluten free options and directed his chef staff to do the same to make sure we understood which options were gluten free.

The bar staff is amazing. There were so many of them, I’d be surprised if anyone waited more than 30 seconds to be served. Felix and Deiby came out from behind the bar every day to serve us drinks personally to our tables as soon as we sat down. The star of the show behind the bar was the amazing Juan! He remembered our favorite drink orders by Day 2 and created personal relationships with our family. His kindness and service will forever be linked to our experience here!

The management staff takes care of issues efficiently and compassionately. We had a small misunderstanding on Day 2 of our trip which was handled immediately by Manuela. You can tell the customer service level of a resort by how hard they try to make things right and Manuela and the rest of the management team gave an A+ effort and not only made things right, but better than before!

The performances were wonderful and the performers were too! We especially enjoyed seeing Marie who not only was an amazing performer, but seemed to be everywhere directing classes, dancing, and making sure our family was fully entertained.

The activity options provided are so diverse and comprehensive, our family was able to find something interesting every day. From archery, fitness, yoga, water sports, trapeze, tennis, pickleball. . . The list just goes on and on.
