Caravelle Guadeloupe - French Caribbean

We’ve stayed at a lot of all-inclusive resorts, and Club Med La Caravelle is the first one that truly means it when they say they cater to families with young children. If you’re traveling with a baby or toddler, this place feels designed for you—not as an afterthought.

What we loved most: the family infrastructure is outstanding. The dining experience alone sets La Caravelle apart: there’s a baby buffet with hot food that’s freshly prepared, plus plenty of high chairs and an overall setup that makes meals with little kids genuinely manageable (and even enjoyable). The staff are top-notch, especially the programming team and the child-focused G.O.s—warm, energetic, and genuinely great with kids. The activities are well-run, thoughtfully scheduled, and make the resort feel easy in the best way.

The ambiance is refreshingly European—classy, relaxed, and family-friendly—without the boozy, chaotic vibe you get at some all-inclusives that attract a different crowd. Guadeloupe is part of France, and the majority of guests are francophone, which makes the whole experience feel like a cultural trip and a resort vacation. It’s a really fun blend.

And the food is excellent—noticeably higher caliber than most American-focused resorts. Better quality French/European products, more sophisticated dishes, and overall a dining experience that feels elevated for an all-inclusive. Facilities are solid, and the beach is terrific—beautiful water, great setting, and importantly: the property is lush and green, not a giant concrete complex that feels like a parking lot with palm trees.

What they could do better (setting expectations): the rooms are comfortable and clean, but they’re not luxurious by any standard. Also, the thermostat / air con being locked at a temperature many Americans would call sweltering was frustrating—our room felt too hot at times. The bigger “expectations gap,” though, is service style: you’re paying something closer to luxury hotel pricing, but this is not a “white glove” experience. The team is extremely friendly and the resort is well-run, yet there isn’t a culture of proactively anticipating needs, chasing down special requests, or pulling out all the stops to make every guest preference happen. The vibe is more “structured holiday club / camp” than luxury hotel concierge—so if you’re used to American-style luxury resorts where staff will bend over backwards to fulfill requests, you may find responses here a bit more muted.

Bottom line: this is probably a “4.5 bubble” property. If you’re a family with young kids and you want an all-inclusive that actually supports that—excellent kid-focused programming, genuinely baby-friendly dining, a classy atmosphere, great food, and a gorgeous beach—La Caravelle is a standout. With a few upgrades (room experience, temperature control, and a slightly more guest-centric service posture), it would be near-perfect. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely come back.

Suggestions: please change the lighting at the main restaurant, it feels like a cafeteria

Disappointing points this December:
The food was delicious, especially the fresh fish, but lacking other choices compared to December 2024
Specially mornings, variety of fruits very ordinary, where are the Caribbean fruits, and often no more bread, one needed to ask and wait for it.
Coffee machine were very disappointing, alway out of order , out of water, no cups, a long wait to start a good day.
We will still return, this a beautiful village and we savored every single day

This was my first Club Med experience. As someone who doesn't usually go on all-inclusive vacations, I really enjoyed my stay.

The beach is beautiful, and the water was lovely and clean. There were always enough chairs for everyone. There isn't much shade, but that wasn't a problem for me.

The food was good. There are only two restaurants, and I found the opening hours a bit restrictive, but there was always something open except between 17h30 to 19h, but there was often an apero at the colibri bar.

What made my stay incredible was really the people who work there. Despite the fact that the GOs were sometimes a little too close-knit, they were great. Special mention to certain employees like Sandro, who worked at the bar and made our stay memorable with his professionalism, constant positivity, and outstanding service. He was very attentive and always ready to personalize our cocktails. For a place that promotes its GOs, it embodies what I expected for my first visit. I would also like to thank Kenny and Steven, who made our stay unforgettable, filled with laughter and good times. Their service was exceptional.

I would also like to mention Arthur at the bar and Nassima in photography, who also made our stay memorable. We met so many wonderful people during our stay that I can't name them all.

There were lots of children and it's quite a lively resort with lots going on, but you can always find some peace and quiet at the Zen pool for adults only. Both pool was nice and clean.

The shows were great, as were the activities and crazy signs. I had a truly exceptional stay, thanks to the resort itself, but really thanks to the people who work there.
