Michès Playa Esmeralda Dominican Republic

We have had the most fantastic experience at this Club Med ever! My husband and I went with our daughter, her husband and 2 boys - 7 and 5. The property is located in a beautiful, and naturally preserved beach / dense "jungle," and it is protected from the elements. There was no wind and we were blessed with great weather the whole week. The small houses are surrounded by tropical shrubs and palms, the grounds are meticulously manicured and maintained. Accommodations are spacious, modern and appointed with great taste. Everything was clean to perfection.

This is not a big hotel so you feel at home everywhere you go. And there are so many activities for children and adults that you can be busy all day long or relax and enjoy the pristine nature, whatever is your preference. We kept busy...:).

My husband played tennis twice per day and the rest of us joined him late afternoon, after the other activities wound down. There was so many other things all day long that my head was spinning... From coconut toss competition, to family castle building and partying, to barbecue - all on the beach, to learning how to wing surf, to taking a kayaking trip to the next big bay, to exercising with tireless Marie, to playing fun kids games in the pool, to partying at the Mini Club and using their amazing waterslides, to playing soccer on the beach or on the grass, or playing basketball, to trapeze or archery classes for kids and adults, to yoga classes all day (unfortunately, we did not have time for that - next time for sure), to parties and entertainment programs at night - again separately for kids and for adults - it was just amazing!!! This Club Med has a very special upbeat atmosphere and their multinational G.O. team is spectacular. Everyone was extremely friendly, helpful and well-versed in their area of expertise. The G.O,'s were also cross-training in other fields, which was great. The General Manager, Theo, was not just doing a stellar job all day long managing the place, he also participated in theatre and trapeze shows at night! And all of this was included in our package!!!

Moreover, we are still trying to loose the weight w gained during our visit because the food was out of this world. There is one main restaurant open for all 3 meals - which are always different. There are so many "stations" with delectable best quality foods that I could not resist trying almost everything... From filet mignon to ahi tuna and everything in between, from French to Indian, Korean, Dominican and all other kids of foods, all topped with French desserts... A total disaster for anyone on a diet! Aakshay, this restaurant's manager, and his team, were unbeatable. BTW, there is a choice of different rooms and terraces for eating your meal in the main restaurant - all beautifully appointed. And, if you did not want to deal with children - which were many - there were adults only spaces. We did gain quite a bit of weight but we enjoyed every tasty bite of it...:). The Coco Palm restaurant was also very nice for lunch; different kinds of barbecues were served, along with live music while enjoying your meal steps from the ocean. The boys were delighted with special children mocktails at the bars - too cute!!!

In addition to all the activities that were included at this Club Med, we decided to go to a fishing/snorkeling excursions and it was very nice. We had our own boat and 3 great guides to help us with everything - Wandy, Unico and Jose. They had all the fishing and snorkeling equipment for us and the kids and we had a blast. We also did horseback riding, through the "jungle" and beach and it was very nice. And finally, we did electric jet surf board excursion, which was a lot of fun. The kids were too small for it this year but the rest of us loved the experience. We rented 2 boards and all 6 of us were taken by boat so a nearby large and calm cove and just had fun. Highly recommend. Gilbert organized all of the excurzions for us and his team was amazing accommodating us in every way.

Finally, I could not remember all the names of wonderful G.O.s; but I do know some. Masimilliano the Sports manager was very friendly and attentive. So was Anik at the front desk; we loved Leo who did some of the kids' activities, especially the Banana search and the Sand castle building competition. And Leo was the guardian of the Chocolate room - the boys will never forget that experience!!! I cannot remember the name of the amazing trapeze/circus master (he is from the US), but he and his team kept us entertained during the day when we wanted to practice and especially at night with breathtaking shows.

We just came back from a wonderful week at this beautiful resort. We travelled with our three kids.
The resort is small and easy to navigate. The grounds are pristine and the vegetation is luscious. We had a family room with a separate bedroom and bathroom for the kids. It was perfect for our needs.

The food in the main buffet is delicious, as with any club med, and there are always many options to choose from.

But besides all of that, the reason why you choose a club med is because of the staff. The chef of the village is welcoming and warm. The entertainment team gets everyone involved in the fun with so much enthusiasm.

The kids club is phenomenal. Lorane and Killian ensure that everything is excellent. The programming, the kids shows, the activities and the care, are beyond expectations. My mini club aged kids had a blast and were devastated to leave.

The teen club staff, Thalia, Severine, and Noe, were incredible too. My 12yo was reluctant to join them at first because she was shy. It took a couple of days of discreetly approaching her and planting little seeds here and there and she finally went to hang out with them one afternoon. She pretty much disappeared for the rest of the week! They really know how to click with this age group and they are so kind. They did activities with them and danced with them and just had such genuine fun with them in the warmest and most positive and loving way. Leaving the group was very hard for her. She is grateful to have met each of you.

Food and beverage staff is great. Always smiling and ready to help with whatever is needed.
Ahmet is an incredible bartender and was always doing some fancy trick while preparing the most delicious drinks. Shirley always had a warm smile and was a lot of fun too!

The circus team is also excellent. My 10yo really wanted to try the trapeze even though it petrified her. She was adamant about trying until she could finally do it. It took three days of climbing up and down the ladder. The second day she stayed on the platform for an hour while the other children took their turns. Mailys and Cooper were incredibly patient and kind. She is proud of herself and grateful for you.

The biggest shoutout, though, has to go to Shirley and Jennifer. This week is Hanukkah and they organized beautiful celebrations for all of us that wanted to participate. They even organized a Shabbat meal with everything we needed. It was special to meet people from around the world and celebrate our holidays together. They worked hard to make this possible and we are incredibly grateful. This truly made our experience feel like home and that we were surrounded by family.

Our family had a terrific time at this resort. It was our first Club Med experience. For adults and kids, there are plenty of activities and programming to keep entertained, while also having great pools, beach, etc to relax at. As our trip was over Hanukkah, two staff in particular (Shirley and Luis) made the stay extra special by organizing a candle lighting each night in one of the event rooms for those celebrating. They even had holiday appropriate pastries (sufganyot) made for the occasion. Thank you for making our stay a great one!

We had a fantastic family vacation at Club Med Michès. The rooms were cozy and comfortable, the activities were endless, and the beach is absolutely stunning—it’s where we spent most of our time.
A truly moving highlight for us was the communal Hanukkah celebration and the Shabbat evening celebration; it was an emotional and special experience for the whole family. Huge thanks to the staff, especially Jennifer, Shirley and Luis, for their incredible hospitality and for Leo for his kindness and for the spaciel time he shared with our family.
Just a few small tips for improvement: the restaurant service was a bit slow at times, and the pool water was a little too chilly for our youngest daughter (though the beach was perfect). Also, if you go on the highly recommended Cocoa Farm tour, be sure to bring mosquito repellent and a towel for the quick tropical rain showers!
Overall, it was a deeply positive experience. We loved our stay and highly recommend it for families
