F.A.Q.s Sandpiper Junior Tennis Camps

1. What are the Sandpiper Junior Tennis Camps at Club Med Sandpiper?
The academies are seven or 14-night all-inclusive, overnight, tennis training programs for juniors aged 12 and older seeking to improve their technique. The camps provide technical instruction, drilling, fitness training and supervised matches.

2. When do the Elite Tennis Academies take place?
The tennis programs will run for eight weeks, from June 29 to August 21, 2009, Monday through Friday. Juniors must register in one of the four levels of instruction: beginner, intermediate, advanced and elite.

3. What are the facilities like?
Club Med Sandpiper offers 17 hard courts (eight of which are lit in the evening), four mini courts that cater to younger players, a club house and professional equipment.

4. Can you tell me more about Club Med Sandpiper?
Located between Miami and Orlando on Florida's east coast, Club Med Sandpiper stretches along the lush St. Lucie River. The resort offers 337 rooms, divided among seven, 3-story buildings (with elevators). Club Med Sandpiper hosted the Nike Junior Tour International Masters in 2008 and will again in 2010. Tennis stars, including Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams, started their careers winning Nike Junior championships.

5. Is the coaching staff comprised of tennis professionals?
Grand Slam Tennis Partners, a world class tennis management company, has assembled a team of international experts to coach the aspiring players. Coaching staff includes Manny Dominguez, coach of ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) player Nuno Marques and former tennis director at the Doral Country Club, Luis Miguel, coach of Portuguese national champion Pedro Cordeiro, Antonio van Greichen, private coach for Victoria Azeranka and several other notable tennis figures.

6. How can my child participate?
You and your child will need to complete an application, submit a copy of your insurance card and review and sign the following forms: the rules and regulations, waiver and release and medical information.

7. Will juniors be supervised when they are not involved in the tennis program?
From the late afternoon until lights out, Club Med staff will engage the juniors in a variety of on-site activities tailored to ‘tweens and teens including sailing, flying trapeze, archery and rollerblading. Professional camp counselors will provide 24 hour supervision of the players and enforce a strict rules and regulations policy.
